Hello Beauty-Ful People!
So around my Birthday last year I did a very stupid thing. I have natural very curly, frizzy hair and I wanted to give it a break from blow drying and straightening so decided as my Birthday present I'd get my hair permanently straightened. My sister has frizzier and curlier hair than me and she has had it done a few times from a certain salon in our local area, along with a friend of hers and they could only say amazing things and I have seen how amazing my sister's hair looked after so I bit the bullet and got it done and gosh do I regret it!. For some reason it just didn't work for my hair AT ALL and absolutely killed my hair. Another beautiful (not) thing that has happened from it is my hair gets very oily, very quickly. I have never had to wash my hair every day or every second day, I could get maybe 4 days sometimes before it started looking oily and ever since I had this horrible treatments done the day after I wash my hair it gets oily up at the roots but looks fine every where else so trying to avoid washing, blow drying and straightening my long, very thick hair every other day I have had to search for a good Dry Shampoo that just gets rid of the oil at my roots so I can get an extra day (or two if I'm lucky) out of my wash.
I have tried a bunch over the past 6 months and without a doubt this is by far my favourite. It's called Batiste Dry Shampoo and I get it in the "Floral & Flirty Blush". They have a bunch of other styled Bottles but personally they all are same to me. It's very easy to use, you just spray it into the roots about 20cms from the scalp and wherever it's required. I leave it on for a few minutes and then brush it out. As most Dry Shampoos are white it can leave your hair looking a bit grey but I just get the tips of my fingers and put them wherever it's a bit grey and move them back and forth a few times and that seems to work and then my roots are clean and they match the rest of my hair.
Obviously, I wouldn't use this product every day for a week to avoid washing my hair - although the thought has crossed my mind a few times haha. It only helps if your hair is a bit oily around the roots or a certain area. It's pretty inexpensive, I purchased it at my local Chemist for a huge bottle (400ml) for $14.00. You can get smaller bottles for about $7.00 I believe but I thought for the huge bottle (I have only seen the bigger bottles at certain chemists but the smaller bottles are sold everywhere you can buy hair products) I might as well get it and it has lasted forever and I still have a lot left. As I usually recommend, take a good look at your local Brochures and try and find it while it's on special. I have tried out a bunch of other Dry Shampoos but none of the other brands seem to leave the hair looking so nice and clean and the others make you feel like there's a bunch of product in your hair or will only last an hour, when this works for me for the whole day.
I have found a DIY recipe for Dry Shampoo for dark haired girls (it's mainly to avoid the grey marks screw around). I'm going to try that out soon and if it works, I'll do a blog about that seeing as you could probably use things that are in the cupboard and would be cheaper. I will also be doing a big blog post on a bunch of DIY Beauty recipes, for those beauty lovers that want to have some pamper time but cannot afford it or want to make sure there are no hidden chemicals or nasties in their beauty products.
